Device without operating system
Windows 10 applies the same activation rules across all previous versions, though many devices come pre-equipped with automatic activation or have been updated to Windows 10, making it hard to notice. If the device lacks any operating system and has never had one, it hasn’t been activated and will require a license purchase. The "I don't have a key" prompt in the installer helps users who previously installed or used alternative activation methods to obtain a functional system before later activating it. Even without prior activation, you’ll still need to enter a key eventually.
The device will power off every two hours once the 30-day window ends, even after being turned off. It's not a full lockout, but the situation is similar.
This limitation has been lifted after an update to Windows 8, 8.1, and all subsequent versions of Windows 10. Your earlier comments are no longer applicable. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...93403.aspx
yeah , on my desktop i dont have a lisenced windows , i have a watermark (down below) thats not bothering me but other than that the pc works fine and its been 3 months since....
He considered Windows Server edition, but on Windows 10 Home you just see the watermark and nothing occurs.
I was aware of the watermark, but my data was quite outdated—my mistake. Thanks for the clarification. This actually helps; I’d prefer an updated, non-pirated version of un-activated Windows over a pirated one. Microsoft seems to favor that too, considering the change. Anyway, my bad!
