You can download Windows 10 onto the USB drive and install it on the laptop just like you would with a desktop PC.

Same as a PC. Launch the media, boot up, everything works.

It's exactly the same as using a desktop, and USB boot functions identically...

You can definitely set up Windows 10 on it if you can reach the Boot Menu, either via the BIOS or by pressing a key during startup (such as F8 or F12). You’ll need a valid Windows 10 activation key. If the device previously ran Windows 10, it should activate itself automatically, but if not, you’ll need the key.

In certain situations the BIOS could be positioned a bit differently compared to a desktop, yet once booted from the storage there should be a comparable setup from desktop to laptop since the Windows installer version stays unchanged on the CD or USB. Adjusting the boot device order would then enable the machine to start from the CD or USB and subsequently install Windows 10 via their installation wizard.

Yes, it will install too. However, if the device lacks prior Windows 10 activation, it will remain functional only for 30 days (or 120 days with additional requirements). Should the system have never included Windows 10, you might need to purchase a license. Official free upgrades ceased last year.

I believed Windows 10 updates remain available beyond the 30-day period even without activation.

You won't be locked out, but you'll keep seeing the "Activate now" prompt in the lower right corner. Some features won't work at all.
