Hey, been having some issues with my pc since I first built it. So when I go to boot it while the case standing up it doesnt give any signal, and all the fans start spinning but no display. But when I turn it off and lay it sideways and press the power button it turns on perfectly. I looked at the manual and tried looking everywhere in the bios for a case orientation setting and couldnt find it. My mobo is an asrock z270 pro4, my full speccy list is attatched. Also I know its not an issue with any cables being loose because when I turn it on while lying flat then stand the case up it works perfectly fine. Just looking for some help.
Did you verify that every cable is securely connected to either the power source (for modular setups) or its respective port on the motherboard?
Initially I believed that, but after reconnecting everything it didn't change. The PSU isn't modular at all.
The first thing that comes to mind is that something isn’t positioned right, and the force of gravity or pressure might be disrupting connections somewhere or pulling on parts they shouldn’t. Verify all connections thoroughly, confirm the CPU is properly seated, ensure the cooler is tightly attached and not loose—this could cause cooling issues or poor contact with components like the CPU or GPU. Also check if it boots into BIOS when upright or displays no visuals at all.
I also attempted to tweak the RAM and GPU settings, but there was no response when trying to boot while standing.
Ensure your power button on the case has a secure connection at both ends. For a power button on the motherboard, test its functionality while standing up.
When PC beeper speakers are needed, manufacturers should consider LCD readouts as a standard feature. Otherwise, how will customers diagnose their issues? Possibly the main concern is loose output connections. Try adjusting them while booting up—such components can be tricky to fix without being physically present, as this issue tends to be unusual.
