Recently my computer has stopped working entirely during gameplay. (I’m almost certain 99% of the failures happen while playing Lost Ark). It powers off instantly, without any warning signs, no blue screen, and it won’t restart even when I press power or reset. I have to turn the power button on the back of the PSU for it to come back on. Previously, it would shut down only when browsing, watching videos, or playing less intense games. As I noted earlier, this mainly occurs during gameplay, especially during intense cutscenes or action sequences—something unusual because my system handles games like Baldur’s Gate 3 well. Here are the components I own: CPU – AMD Ryzen 7 3700X; GPU – Nvidia RTX 3070-Ti; SSD – Samsung 980 Pro NVMe PCIe M.2 500GB; Storage – Sabrent Rocket 4 NVMe PCIe M.2 1TB; RAM – Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO DDR4 3200C16 2x8GB; Motherboard – Asus ROG STRIX X570-E GAMING OS; BIOS – American Megatrends Inc., version 3.2; PSU – Corsair 850x modular. I recently updated the BIOS and swapped my RAM for Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB 32GB (4x8GB) DDR4 3200, but the problem worsened significantly. Now even minimal game loading triggers crashes. Could it be related to the PSU or the motherboard? The issue has become much more frequent and severe after upgrading RAM power and adding more sticks. What are your thoughts? Are there any tests you recommend to help identify the cause?

I don't have that information. Could you provide your PSU brand and model?

Why is this BIOS so outdated? You're missing all the updates, patches, enhancements, and bug fixes AMD and Asus have provided over more than four years. https://rog.asus.com/motherboards/rog-st...desk_bios/ Updating the BIOS now! Once you do, run a retest. If it doesn't resolve the problem, we'll move forward with additional actions.

Device remains inactive between 30 and 35°C, rises to 40°C under light activity, then reaches 50°C while gaming Lost Ark (verified after 30+ minutes). CPU package temperature peaks at 60°C during gameplay.

GPU operates near 60°C, possibly reaching 70°C during intense use. During the incident, temperatures stayed around 50–60°C with fans running at moderate speeds.

Updated BIOS settings and revisited the problem. I observed the issue consistently occurs in one dungeon during a particular cutscene. Reducing graphics settings to the minimum allowed helped me navigate the scene multiple times without errors. It seems a RAM or V-RAM failure could be the cause—perhaps the game is requesting too much data at once. What are your thoughts?

Review game files and see if others face similar problems in that dungeon. If the issue stems from RAM, expect BSODs or crashes tied specifically to memory, not the whole system. Have you overclocked? Look for XMP settings or other tweaks. To rule out memory, use a bootable USB with MemTest86 and test each stick separately. After the crash, re-run it and check Event Viewer (Win+R - eventvwr.msc) for recent errors beforehand. Run CPU and GPU stress tests to determine if overloading causes shutdowns. My guess leans toward the PSU—Corsair had past recalls, especially with the RM850 due to fan failure. I switched to a CM MWE 450 and the problem vanished.
