Thanks for your patience. For those who might know more, I managed to link the disk to a Windows laptop, format it with exFat, and everything functioned properly. It was recognized on my MacBook. However, when I tried to erase the exFat format to set up Mac OS Journaled, it failed again. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
