Thanks for the details. I understand the situation clearly. After reassembling, I’ll check if any of my old friends are returning. Currently, most of my high school friends have moved away, though I’m hoping someone might come back soon. Online connections remain the only ones I’ve formed so far, mainly due to mental health considerations. Regarding the processor update, I realized it’s a three-processor model and won’t fit in the board.

AM3 isn't compatible with AM4. You may need to wait a bit longer. AMD offers short-term loan boot kits; they note it's a 5xx series chipset requiring an update, though they could work with a 3xx series. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-105 It’s worth inquiring about this. If not available, there are boards that let you flash the BIOS without a matching CPU. I’m looking for affordable options—something under what you’d pay for a board plus a cheap R3 on eBay. Right now I’m seeing listings around $45–50 with shipping, and nothing seems to support BIOS flashing at that price. The Facebook marketplace could be another route. Consider posting a request to borrow one for a few dollars for a short time.

It’s a good idea, but verify everything carefully before proceeding. Make sure your power cables and display cables are secure, particularly after relocating the computer.

I have some background on how my computer ended up in the living room. I figured I should test it by plugging it into the TV, and it’s working perfectly. It might be my monitor, cable, or maybe the DVI port on the card. I’m doing some checks before deciding what to replace. In the meantime, I’ll have to borrow one of the smaller monitors until I can get a new one. This one I was using has been struggling for years now. Thank you so much for your help—it made a tough situation easier.

I’m looking into this together with AMD’s guidance. For the repair work, an AM4 chip is necessary, and we can sort that out via chat. I don’t want my involvement to seem permanent or automatic. There’s a supportive community around this topic—my Discord and occasional DMs are active. My online presence is limited to those moments when I’m at home and things are busy.

I discovered a tiny store in the nearby village and plan to have it repaired tomorrow. I just wish the person there understands what they're doing since they assume you require a case for updating the BIOS on a motherboard.

It's a bit questionable, but if he fails and it can't be salvaged, you might return the device. If you lack a newer AMD processor for BIOS updates and nearby stores don't offer updates, they should agree to the return.

He just finished it, but he’s swamped so I’ll handle the morning. He expects it’ll need more than a few minutes to update the BIOS.
