Device not displaying. Asrock Z68 Extreme 3 issue.
Hello, your AsRock Z68 Extreme 3 Gen 3 with 32 GB RAM seems to have compatibility issues with dual-channel memory. Even though the BIOS supports all channels and recognizes the extra RAM, only 16 GB appears in dual-channel mode when you upgrade to 32 GB. The latest BIOS update was released, but it hasn’t resolved this problem for you. You might want to check if there are specific settings or drivers related to dual-channel configuration that need adjustment. Let me know if you'd like more details!
These AsRock boards are often criticized for memory problems. My Extreme 4 had all its slots removed. It's time to upgrade!
Don't forget to mention Chris Pratt when you reply so he gets notified. Check if it's 1600MHz, dims, or a mix—DDR3 or DDR3L? Try using two sticks and set the RAM speed to 1333 or reset the CMOS with four sticks.
I don’t understand you, but I’m not in a position to discard things just because they might not work. It’s up to the person making the decision.
I understand. It was already mentioned in the first post, otherwise he wouldn't be here. Remember, I'm a bit older. I actually used the same platform with an extreme 4. I noticed the problem in all the old overclocking forums—it's just bad motherboards. The only decent ones were from AsRock. There was a Dual Sata II S939 with an AM2 riser card upgrade. That kind of thing. Quirky stuff. But for the Z68 Z78 boards, there were memory channel issues. We warned everyone not to buy them based on our experience. It turned out we upgraded our memory to keep the old rig running, instead of saving money for a better new setup. Everyone's situation is different. Some might prefer spending time diagnosing and breaking channels, while others can upgrade for more power. I hope you really read what I said—not just a summary. Otherwise it would be disappointing.
