Hi, as this title suggests I'm making this regarding my SSD not booting up my computer correctly. A couple days ago I bought new RAM and an SSD to use as a boot drive for Windows 10 replacing the HHD I was using, after installing the new SSD and cloning over the contents of the HHD over to the SSD and setting the new SSD as the #1 Boot option in my BIOS, my computer hasn't been booting up correctly. Whenever I turn on the computer it does its usual boot up process by lighting up the 4 LEDs on the side of the motherboard, it passes CPU check and RAM check but when it gets to check the GPU it doesn't attempt it and restarts checking the CPU & RAM really fast then shuts off, it does that another 2 times then stays on but nothing shows up on either of my Monitors. I am able to boot into my computer by loading it into recovery mode and selecting Boot Override in the BIOS, after that it loads into Windows normally and I have no problems from there. In Disk management it says the SSD is healthy and recognizes it as the Boot Drive. (Note: I'm typing this out with the same PC that is giving me the Boot problem) System Specs. Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming CPU: Intel i7-9700k 3.6ghz 12mb cache GPU: Geforce RTX 2060 (MSI) Ram: (Previous) Corsair Vengeance LPZ 16gb DDR4 3000MHz -> (Current) Corsair Vengeance RGP PRO 32gb DDR4 3600MHz Storage: 1. (Previous Boot Drive & Removed) WD Blue 1tb HHD | 2. (HHD used for personal storage) WD Blue 4tb HHD | 3. (Current Boot Drive) SanDisk Ultra 3D SSD 512gb PSU: EVGA Supernova 1000 G5, 80 Plus Gold 1000w, fully modular CPU Cooler: Corsair h100i RGB Platinum AIO Liquid Cooler, 2400mm Troubleshooting Attempts - Ensuring that the SSD is the C Drive - Ensuring that the SSD is the Primary Boot Drive (only one that shows up) - Going into CMD Prompt and doing DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth, followed by sfc /scannow - Updating my GPU Driver incase that was the problem - Ensuring the SSD has the most recent drivers - (Most recent attempt) Reset this PC in system settings and completely reinstalling Windows 10 Additional Info This is a costume-built Computer I made around November of 2019. After building it there was a Boot error for the GPU and the LED for GPU would stay lit, I fixed the issue by downloading the correct drivers and setting the Graphics Output in BIOS to the GPU. I used Macrium Reflect 8 Free to Clone my 1tb HHD to my 512gb SSD (only around 300gb were on the HHD). For more Context on the motherboards Boot LEDs, First LED is Orange is CPU, second is Red is RAM, third is White for GPU, and Yellow is when it is fully booting up. If needed I can send the Necessary Screenshots and a Video of the Boot problem in action, I will also answer any questions that will help.
Looking for confirmation on whether Windows Boot Manager is configured as the UEFI boot source, excluding the SSD.
Uncertain, the only choice it presents is "Windows Boot manager" followed by the SSD name. There have been a few times when loading into BIOS showed just that option without any drive listed afterward. If you need, I can share a screenshot of the BIOS boot options screen.
It seems you're asking about SATA port configurations and potential issues with your system setup. The text discusses having different types of SATA ports, such as SAS and AHCI, and notes that some ports are bootable while others require drivers. It also mentions concerns about SSD placement on bootable devices and formatting problems in Disk Management.
The SSD is connected to the first port on the motherboard, identical to the port the HDD used before switching. Disk management displays this setup.
I accessed Settings and performed a reset, which caused Windows to reinstall itself. The previous hard drive connected to start the system is now disconnected.
