I think you're referring to a setup where the internal GPU uses two output ports—HDMI1 connects to the motherboard video path, while HDMI2 goes to an external screen. If this is true, it seems there might be an issue with the motherboard's video connection or a damaged screen enclosure that’s blocking the signal. Some screens have extra components inside to manage brightness and color; if they’re broken, surrounding parts could be affected. Generally, the problem likely lies with the motherboard itself. Just a quick note, I’m not a professional, so this is based on basic assumptions and my experience with an older Toughbook that faced similar problems.

I completed the disassembly to install the new screen and changed the faulty connector. Should I replace the CPU fan because I cut the blue wire while watching a YouTube video? My brother owns an Asus model; the fan appears similar, but its wires are black, red, and yellow. The one this laptop uses has blue, yellow, red, and white wires with 3 pins or 4 pins.

It wouldn't be a bad approach. Running the fan continuously at high speed could shorten battery life, but keeping it on is preferable to leaving it off completely.

Thanks to everyone for your assistance. Now I’ll be able to return the laptop to the teacher early tomorrow morning.
