It looks like the microphone cable is deteriorating or damaged, so I recommend replacing it.

I also had a backup device, it produced the same issue with another microphone as well. This wasn't something I experienced before until I cleaned the dust from my computer. Could that have caused the problem?

Regarding the chipset drivers, those handle USB functionality. Please reinstall them.
