The Ryzen 5 3600 fits your needs well. Budget-friendly B450 boards can handle it, but the ASRock B450M/AC offers solid out-of-box support without a BIOS update.

I also intend to boost performance later.

This model handles a 6-core CPU very well. It falls into the "maximum 6-core performance" category on our ranking, and you can view the details by clicking the motherboard image in my signature.

I notice @Tristerin is in agreement, though he might be tweaking some high-performance options on an 1700X (8c/16t) with a Pro4. It should manage a 3600 easily. In the worst scenario, just aim a fan at the VRM heatsink and it should work fine. Lol.

Consider upgrading to 3700x CPUs within five years.

I believe having more cores is increasingly valuable and will only grow in importance over time. Initially, when I purchased my Ryzen 2200G with four cores, most people thought it was sufficient. However, games don’t require many cores and rarely do. Those opinions proved incorrect. The CPU has always been too limited from the start for demanding titles—wasting resources. Game developers will rely more on multi-threading in the future because it makes sense and modern hardware can handle optimized code. Short version: more cores mean better future readiness. Unfortunately, I ignored my own warnings and chose a R5 3600 instead. Although it’s decent, it feels underwhelming compared to the 2200, especially for tasks like video processing, and it might become outdated much sooner than similar eight-core processors.
