Many original equipment manufacturer computer motherboards lack overclocking capabilities. Certain AM3 CPUs can function on most AM3 boards after a BIOS upgrade. Before installing a more powerful CPU, update the BIOS of the motherboard to the latest version.

Ensure you have the most recent BIOS installed.
Currently, upgrading to any am3 socket CPU isn't beneficial.
This socket is outdated, offering poor CPU options.
I would consider a last generation I5 and motherboard setup. It should maintain the same RAM configuration as before.
