Dell latitude 5310 is a fingerprint scanner model.
Hi, i have a latitude 5310. I bought it without FP reader but I found FP reader compatible with that laptop on Aliexpress. I connect it. My problem is, that windows does not found that FP reader. I reinstalled all drivers and firmware/bios. The led under power button, that i replaced with that FP reder is not on (beacause it doesnt have to be) the FP reader is solid but the button is partially translucent. In bios there is new thing that is named enable/disable FP reader. Windows does not see that on both settings. If you have any suggestions please wrtite it. TLDR. I wanted to upgrade laptop with FP reader. But laptop see it only in bios. It is not visible in windows. (not in settings or Device Manager)
hmmmm ok, the question is, how does this connect to the motherboard or any tiny board (daughterboard) inside your PC? from what i've experienced there's usually either a flat that connects to a daughterboard that connets to a cable to the motherboard OR a direct connection somehow to the motherboard. the dell i've fixed usually here at work which are inspiron or vostro has in both cases a daughterboard where the fingerprint is connected EDIT: i found a listing on aliexpress with the same code, looks like you have a kind of connector that sometimes feels seated correctly but in fact it's not, did you try to gently pull it up and reseat it? i assume that the power button function works correctly https://it.aliexpress.com/i/100500864911...pt=glo2ita
This thing connects straight to motherboard. I have connected it using dells service manual. I think that laptop knows about that beacause under the power button (which is replaced by FP reader) is LED. Without FP reader it is on. With FP reader connected it id not on
Yes, you can toggle the fingerprint feature in your BIOS settings. Enabling it may allow the system to recognize your device more securely, while disabling it might affect authentication processes. Switching its status back to disabled could revert any related changes, especially if issues persist. If the feature isn’t working after enabling, try disabling it first to test if that resolves the problem.
Nothing happens. I own another Dell that includes an FP reader, but this configuration turns off the FP reader.
