I understand the packaging requirements. There was a note indicating customs inspections start before the goods reach the border. They should use more than just bubble wrap and cardboard for delicate items. I'll conduct some tests and verify the details, thanks.

Likely to have minimal impact beyond surface flatness. It could still be worth checking.

Consider a partial refund if available, and use it directly without any changes.

You only need a bit of coarse sandpaper to remove any uneven edges that might prevent the cooler from making solid contact. After smoothing it out, the rest should work fine. Many people may try to flatten the entire lid for better contact, but in this situation, following the cut line with a small piece of sandpaper and polishing it will suffice. It’s also helpful that the material isn’t near the center of the chip, which is advantageous here.

You'd know its off by crazy high temps, like way more than you would expect. If its off by a handful its probably fine, but if you are idle at like 70C then yeah something may be wrong. To be fair it may also just be wrong because the chip is bad and the scratch had nothing to do with it. But yeah test and test and you'll be able to tell

I don't believe the scratch would significantly influence temperatures this way. For that to happen, something else would need to be incorrect.
