Hi everyone, I own a 13900KS with a TeamGroup DDR5 7600 CL36. I’m considering upgrading to a 9800X3D and want to know how memory performance changes with the Ryzen 9000 series. For the motherboard, I plan to use the Asus Strix X890E. Should I run the system at a lower speed or is the 7600 still suitable?

Yes 7600 should function, but consider lowering the speed. For context, AM5 offers two controller settings: 1:1 (like Intel Gear 1) and 2:1 (Gear 2). The latter trades memory latency for higher clock speeds. The 2:1 penalty is noticeable enough that until DDR5 8000 arrives, sticking with 1:1 at 6000 CL30 is usually better unless you're only using Y-Cruncher. 2:1 can also cause odd behavior, so beyond screenshots and competitive tests I don’t see a clear benefit. Plus, targeting the 9800X3D means memory speed shouldn’t matter much.

You're suggesting a lower voltage setting for the 7600 Kit and asking about optimal clock speeds. The best achievable 1:1 ratio for most 9000 series CPUs typically falls between 6000 and 6400 CL30.

I'm not sure how to determine if your setup can handle 30 or 32 timings at 6200 without affecting performance.

In the worst scenario, it may not function properly or require extensive adjustments because the product is tailored exclusively for Intel with its XMP profiles.

A straightforward method is to multiply the original timing by the target frequency and then divide by the previous one, converting 7600 CL36-46-46-84 into DDR5 6400 CL30-39-39-71 after rounding. You can also fine-tune the settings manually, as the module likely offers some flexibility (like running CL30-37-37-30 at 1.43V), but the adjusted values should still be viable if calculations are accurate.

Do you know if TeamGroup has a kit suited for AM5 boards in the 6200-6400 range? I prefer TeamGroup because the module temperatures are much better than the Gskill 6000 kit I used before.
