I wasn’t expecting to upgrade my GPU any soon since my 660 Ti should keep running until the next generation of NVIDIA cards arrive. The only GPU I was thinking about installing was a Quadro K620 that supports 10-bit resolution.

Sadly the others are correct—playing DayZ with a solid FPS requires upgraded hardware. You can try alternatives like turning off the postprocess setting for video memory to high and shadows off.

It looks like AMD's new cards could be worth considering soon. HBM technology offers significant gains, while Nvidia won't be able to acquire them for a while.

It's not great but I'll check it out. Yes, AMD doesn't offer CUDA. CUDA works well with Adobe Premiere and After Effects, which I use more often than games.

Choosing between a used GTX 780 or a 970 will definitely please you. If not, give the alternatives a try—it can make a difference.

I managed it successfully and accessed GeForce Experience. I applied the settings from there.

A straightforward solution is to lower the object quality setting. Instant FPS boost! Note: My single CPU only hits 80% to 90% usage in DayZ. For the GPU, I usually see around 50% to 80%. It’s just not well optimized overall. The game isn’t optimized at all. That’s the full picture. Not because my CPU is bad... Edit: The AI movement processing mainly happens on the server, not the client. This isn’t a CPU issue—it’s just poor optimization. Edit: Sorry if I sound upset. It’s just that I’m having a rough day.

The 5820k is expected to underperform compared to the 4790k due to its higher core count.

Add these settings to the Steam startup parameters:

- Disable pause and splash screen
- Enable HT for better performance
- Turn off clouds, motion blur, post-processing, ambient occlusion, and shadows (low or off)
- Activate "better looking trees and grass"
- Disable the "better looking" effect
- Adjust difficulty to be harder, aiming for ~10 FPS boost on a 4690K 4.4 GHz
- Consider RAM overclocking if stable
- Set max memory to 2048
- Report current FPS range (28–45) and performance notes

The 660ti comfortably handles DayZ, but the CPU seems to be the limiting factor. There was no noticeable frame difference when switching from a 7770 to a 7950.
