The CPU isn't the main issue here. The 3770k is a powerful chip, while the 660ti is outdated compared to newer models. The request was for a next-gen Nividia card, so I suggested an upgrade that still works well. The team has moved on from HBM-based designs. Great post to bring back the thread!

It's a 3770 non-K model, meaning overclocking isn't recommended. Is HBM still relevant beyond gaming? Think about Adobe Suite.

It has a 3770k, once 660ti now 970.

The CPU is clearly the main limitation. My 3770k runs at 4.5ghz and it remains the issue. No matter whether I switch to dual 660tis or dual 970s, performance doesn’t improve. DayZ doesn’t need a very powerful GPU; it’s mainly slowed down by CPU speed because it isn’t multi-threaded at all.

Hbm is expected to launch on the flagship card for AMD's 300 series. Reports suggest a memory speed close to 4096 bits, significantly higher than the 512 bits found in other premium cards. Performance gains remain uncertain, but analysts anticipate around a 980-titan black boost. Efficiency also plays a role, which shouldn't be overlooked. I'm clear that DayZ demands a powerful CPU. For Arma 3 and Arma 2 OA, several factors matter when I bought my 4790K. Its top-tier single-core performance lets me hit solid FPS with my 270X. The challenge is that you claim no improvement from switching from dual 660Tis to dual 970s. The game isn't using dual 660Tis; it relies on a single unit, which isn't impressive today. The 3770 is aging but still functional. My opinion leans toward the 660Tis being the main bottleneck. Beyond that, Arma consistently struggles with high FPS, even at 4.7GHz overclocked. It's hard to say definitively unless certain conditions are removed. I don't question the 3770 limiting performance, particularly because it isn't a K-series model.
