Setup details: Two 27-inch displays running 1440p at 27" each via displayport (main monitor at 240Hz, second at 144Hz). Components include RTX 3080, 10700k, 32GB DDR4 TRIDENT Z, Samsung 970 TB M.2 drive. Installed a fresh Windows 11 build (recent update), but still experienced issues similar to the previous version. The challenge is maintaining consistent scaling for CS at 4:3 (1920:1440) on the second monitor—applications shift when switching apps or entering fullscreen, then return. I’m not ready to abandon the 4:3 aspect ratio or alter native resolutions. I’m curious if anyone knows a method to lock or position apps precisely on the secondary screen. I’ve searched but found little relevant discussion; Reddit help hasn’t been productive. A video upload when back home would be useful. Reminder: I won’t switch to 16:9 or adjust my monitor’s native resolution for in-game settings.

Your second display should be positioned behind your primary screen in the NVIDIA control panel. It’s common to place the second monitor on the opposite side of the main one, but this can cause confusion since it may appear reversed.

It happens because of how the monitors are set up and their aspect ratios. Your main screen is forcing everything to match, which can cause problems when switching to a different format like 4:3. The placement of the second monitor matters since it affects how the system handles input and display settings. It’s not just about position—it’s about compatibility between screens and settings.

It's strange and okay if it doesn't work perfectly, but your setup is a bit restricted. Your main monitor must stay on your left screen unless you rearrange things. In software, you just need to shift your mouse to the left to switch monitors.

I believe it involves a Windows setup where an order is made from left to right. Yes, placing your second monitor on the left within the NVIDIA control panel requires shifting your mouse to the left to access it. You might also experiment with positioning the second monitor above or below your main screen in the same panel.

I'll give it a shot and share the latest update here and in my Reddit reply thread so more folks can find a straightforward solution.

Adjust the Nvidia drivers or use a basic regex substitution.
