Hi, I got a Ryzen 1600x, an RX480 card, 16 gigabytes of RAM, a Samsung 850 Evo 500GB hard drive, and a TOSHIBA 3TB hard drive. I also bought an MSI B350 Tomahawk Arctic back about two years ago when the Ryzen 5 came out. Back then, I checked the BIOS today and realized I hadn't updated it recently so I did a flash update and there were no problems. But before I started using Windows, I wanted to try overclocking the RAM because nobody had worked on mine yet so I set XMP for 3200MHz and turned off the power in the BIOS... The computer stayed with just one CPU light lit up and didn't show any signal for a really long time. So I decided to restart it... Now every time I turn it on, that same single CPU light comes on but nothing happens after that and it won't boot. I tried clearing CMOS by taking out the battery but it still doesn't help. Any advice? All other posts seem to be about new builds like this one. Thanks, Dan

I set my memory to 3600mhz and left voltage on auto, then tried to fix that failed xmp setting. My computer won't turn on at all. First, the cpu light came on, then the memory lights joined it. The cpu fan speed stayed high and didn't change after I cut power. Both the cpu and memory lights stay lit until I unplug the machine. On a normal boot, my cpu and memory lights come on, show "gtx 1050," then turn off to a vga light. After that, the boot light flashes for a tiny second before showing the bios splash screen. My fan speeds up and down during a normal boot cycle. Now that I reset my cmos and try again, it boots correctly.

Did the PSU stay powered on or turned off while you took out the battery? Apparently, a Ryzen computer needs electricity to keep going even without batteries. You can't take it apart like any other computer; it stays "on" just like that!

I'm going to test this tomorrow once I leave the computer behind right now. But when I took out the battery, it wasn't plugged in and was turned off... I never knew how Ryzen worked like this so I'm definitely going to try it. Thanks. Am I wrong thinking that if the power supply is on, I could accidentally short something?

There isn't much strength nearby that could harm anything.

I only tried your trick and nothing came out... I'm still stuck with the CPU light, while everything else is dark.
