Clearing CMOS is easy, right? Just how long have you been holding those wires together? Make sure the power is off but the plug stays in. Hold it there for about five seconds then let go.

I've done it about four or five times before. I used to leave it for ten seconds at a time until now. A few days ago, I tried using a screwdriver but decided that wires are better. My system is making me really confused right now...

Strange stuff. Try putting your RAM and CPU back in again. Maybe that will work.

I tried reseatting my RAM, but not yet the CPU. I'm going to try that though. I worry it won't fix things because this computer has run okay for over a year and a half. I need something urgent right now though, so I'll just try when I have time. Thanks a ton for your help!

Okay so I took my CPU out and put it back in, reset the CMOS settings, but the problem is still there. I'm really not sure which part is broken; honestly I might be wrong about the motherboard being the issue, even though that's what I suspect. Also, how could I accidentally damage the motherboard by using XMP on my ram? And if it was bricked or fried, would the fans still spin when the computer tries to turn on?
