Alright so today i gave my pc to one of my friends that is skilled in pc building since i dont know shit to install a 2080s and a 3600x.Now when i got it back the 3600x was running 55c idle? and after i did a time spy test on the cpu test it hit 78c. Is this normal? Since i have heard that the 3600x is really hot. but didn't know that it's this hot lol.Btw i have like a pretty ok cooler. It's not stock but it's done me good so i dont think it's the cooler And i noticed it's this hot when i heard the cpu fan ramping continuously up and down. And if it helps i did not do anything before upgrading my cpu and gpu.I only uninstalled the gpu driver but did nothing for the cpu.Did something overlap or could i have a problem on my hands?

The temperature reading of 78°C isn't extremely high. 90°C feels quite warm. If it's using the stock Stealth cooler, it's actually quite comfortable.

I’m confident he probably left the thermal paste behind.

Constantly or in short bursts up to 55°C?

Temperatures stay low, maxing around 78°C. I guess they’d rise more if there were no paste involved. @probablydumb didn’t mention the cooler settings used. Edited March 31, 2020 by Donut Dan

It's around 55°C, but it occasionally rises to 60°C before dropping back to 50-55°C immediately.

From the appearance, the cooler appears to be functioning adequately, though 78°C isn't extremely high. It might help to verify the thermal paste application for better results.

Sure, consider using a fan curve designed for stable performance rather than aggressive throttling. Look for curves that prioritize consistent speed and noise reduction over peak boost.

You'd need to try things yourself to discover what succeeds.
