Console for Network Switch Management
Console for Network Switch Management
I bought a Quanta LB4M Netowork Switch for my home network, but I’m having trouble reaching the console. I found online suggestions using an Ethernet to USB adapter to connect. I also got an Amazon Basics USB 2 ----> Fast Ethernet Adapter and installed Tera Term on my PC, hoping it would help. The program shows one COM port is active, but it’s not the right one. Anyone else have alternative ideas?
It depends on whether the console port has a rollover pin configuration. I checked nearby sources but didn’t find immediate references, so you may need to investigate further.
This cable matches what Tera Term expects. Plugging it into your PC creates a fresh COM port that Tera Term recognizes for connection. It supports a rollover configuration, meaning the pinout adapts to different RJ45 setups. This type is widely used for networking gear and is also known as a Cisco-style console cable since Cisco pioneered rollover technology—though they initially pushed their own products, eventually others followed suit.
