I bought a Quanta LB4M Netowork Switch for my home network, but I’m having trouble reaching the console. I found online suggestions using an Ethernet to USB adapter to connect. I also got an Amazon Basics USB 2 ----> Fast Ethernet Adapter and installed Tera Term on my PC, hoping it would help. The program shows one COM port is active, but it’s not the right one. Anyone else have alternative ideas?

The cable looks nice, but I favor the standard RS-232 DB9 setup, even with two cables, since it gives you a proper serial connection. Plus, not everyone uses the rollover pin configuration that Cisco promotes.

Yes, you can still use Tera Term with that cable to access the console.

It depends on whether the console port has a rollover pin configuration. I checked nearby sources but didn’t find immediate references, so you may need to investigate further.
