Has anyone used one of the correction/ contact frames for ryzen 7000? With the weird shape of the heat spreader they seem fine if you don't want to manually spread the thermal paste before putting the cooler on but I'm curious if there's any actual thermal benefit?

It's difficult to determine, as it depends on how the chip is manufactured. (Apologies if my previous comment confused you)

Big reason for the contact frame on Intel's new CPUs is simply because the ILM applies an asymmetrical force. I don't believe Ryzen has this issue and if it did, it might be designed in a way to benefit the position of the two CCDs. Ryzen's hot spot isn't centered to the heat spreader like Intel's is, so the left images are really bad for heat transfer comparably. With regards to thermal paste on Ryzen 7000, the builds I've done so far with it, I've just taken the 'there's no such thing as too much' approach with non conductive thermal paste.

I wouldn't rely on this compared to the stock ILM because there aren't significant problems with it, unlike Intel.

I don’t rely on one unit and I’m seeing PBO with my AIO working well. I don’t have contact readings, but my heat and power are around 80s under stress tests.

They seem to be chasing a popular trend just to attract those who aren’t informed, offering something that might actually cause more damage than value. It’s not worth jeopardizing your computer’s performance or breaking the warranty by ignoring the specifications.

The item isn't necessary if the factory ILM is built correctly, a flaw Intel overlooked in the LGA1700 design. The main alternative would be using delidded contact frames. I concur. Unless you're prepared to desolidify the CPU, the standard ILM appears stable. Improving the IHS would yield greater benefits than any delidded frame.

They likely knew the thermal paste would compress into the capacitors during installation, but didn't consider it an issue. It's surprising they missed this detail.

They were preparing the Intel ILM prior to TG. They are a reliable firm.

It doesn't necessarily mean it's required. Even reviewers of Intel cooling solutions acknowledged they help achieve optimal cooling but aren't crucial. They perform well for the average user. Unless future reports highlight CPUs failing early due to bent components, it fulfilled its purpose. These guides are best for those aiming for top-tier cooling from IHS ratings.
