I never played the initial title because it's only for consoles. Bungee later released it for PC, but I'm still stuck with The Division and Warframe. My interest shifted to Destiny 2 after seeing some negative reviews. The game became available for free, so I downloaded it right away and started playing. At first, I wasn't sure how to proceed and skipped tutorials or videos since the release. I followed random players and followed their paths without much guidance. I'm currently at level 16 with 181 light something and still enjoy it as much as The Division did when it launched. Someone in my community group clarified that Bungee only released the base game, not the DLCs or expansions. Now I have a few questions: Should I purchase the additional DLC and expansions? If so, which ones should I buy to get the most out of Destiny 2? Is it worth buying the Annual Pass offered by Blizzard? And how do I know if the game is still worth my time to invest in?

The DLC seems incredibly costly at first, but becomes more affordable once it's available. Plan for the next expansion and consider a $30 bundle to access everything.

I've been enjoying it since it became free. I'm missing the DLC. The game feels very basic. The maps are basically Plains of Eidolon maps with the same game mechanics repeated. Division, Warframe, Borderlands 2 and Mass Effect offer much better shooter RPGs.

It’s frustrating how weak the pseudo skill trees are. Gear statistics feel almost irrelevant. In Warframe, you need to focus on loadouts. In Destiny, you can just power through using whatever gear has the biggest numbers. The game lacks depth. It’s shocking that Bungie is charging such high prices for this experience and expansions.

I received a complimentary copy from EVGA with my 1080 purchase, though I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began. Constantly exploring the map made it feel quite dull, so I played it for about 5 to 6 hours before eventually getting rid of it. It wasn’t very enjoyable.

I'm confident in your suggestions because we've all played through the game before. I just reached level 20, which is the highest for the base version. I'll check if there are more rewards as I advance the story. It's smart to ask before committing.

I mean this in a similar way. It’s exactly what happened to me when I first tried Destiny. After spending an hour or two on Destiny 2 after getting it for free, I’m just as hooked as I am with The Division. I’ve logged more than 100 hours on the Division across Xbox One and PC. I’d recommend sticking through everything the base game provides. Only then will you feel the need to buy more DLC. Especially if you have friends who are also playing and want to stay involved. Even if they’re not regular players, as long as they care about the game, it helps a lot. Eventually, it’ll become much more affordable. It feels like any other title—after a while it can start to feel repetitive. Whether it’s enjoyable depends on your own experience with the genre. For me, Destiny 2 is a newer style, so I really appreciate the atmosphere and things like raids and all the extra content the developers add.

I've been playing Destiny 1 since beta and a long-time fan of Hardvore. I think Destiny 2 started off quite rough. Destiny 1 was tough but rewarding—it pushed you to improve and turned grinding into something engaging. The changes in D2 shifted the focus toward casual players, which hurt the game's balance. While D1 wasn't designed for casual audiences, it still had its challenges. Since the Forsaken expansion came out, D2 has improved significantly, becoming faster and more demanding. You need to go through the first two expansions to unlock Forsaken, but it's definitely worth the effort. Overall, the current D2 is a strong game, an evolved version of its predecessor.

At the time D2 was released, I was mainly concentrating on The Division and Warframe, and I didn’t find D2 appealing since I don’t really enjoy MMOs in FPS games. (In my view) Based on others’ experiences, I think I’ll wait for discounted DLC and expansions. Right now, I’m starting to enjoy the game and how it develops. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for your input! Perhaps I'll hold off until Christmas and look for a solid offer on expansions and DLCs.
