The game isn't finished until 2016 at the latest. Regarding controller compatibility, they should have it covered—flight sticks are likely supported, and I’m hoping 360 controllers will work too. Not everyone prefers a mouse and keyboard setup.

If you plan to purchase Star Citizen, do so to help fund its development. A full release isn't expected for another few years. The final version should launch in Q4 2015 or Q1 2016.

It's a messy piece of software, you're wasting your time with nonsense. I've met someone who plays it, but it usually takes over 20 minutes just to get online before he can even start.

It seems to be his problems. I’m ready to jump in immediately and perform without any issues. Right now, the setup is quite minimal, which is why it’s regarded as Alpha.

Maybe. However, it doesn't seem worthwhile if someone's gaming time is already limited. It should be exciting in about a year or two.

Currently, Star Citizen is in Pre Alpha stage, which explains some of the problems. The single-player version is expected later this year, followed by the MMO expansion. I think it's worth getting it now—just because it looks great and fun, and you'd be contributing to a project driven by the developer rather than just for profit. Any developer who claims the game won't reach consoles because they can't handle it deserves support. I personally dislike console gaming, so I'm sure someone will react negatively. If I could, I'd grab Star Citizen right away. It's still in development, not an Alpha, but joining now helps with bug reports, testing, and funding the project.

Alpha indicates the initial phase of creation. Many feel uncertain, as pre-alpha suggests the project is still theoretical, not a finished product.

Currently there are just modules available—explore the hangar, battle in your ship, or engage in FPS matches across limited maps. My information might be outdated, which could mean it's still pre-alpha. These are trial modules based on my understanding.
