Current setup uses a B450M chipset. I mainly run Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, play CSGO, League, triple A games, and mod Skyrim (around 1020 mods). I need faster rendering, especially in After Effects, and higher FPS in games. I’m considering the 5900X over the 5800X because it offers more cores and threads, which could help with rendering times. It’s tough deciding between these two options.

Keep in mind that while the 5800X3D doesn’t throttle on this board, maintaining proper VRM airflow remains important for long-term health. For rendering tasks, the 5700X and 5800X still offer higher clock speeds, making them faster options if you prioritize raw speed over stability.
Currently my budget is near £300 for the CPUs on Amazon, and both models fit that range. If I upgrade to a newer platform, it would exceed £500, requiring additional ddr5 RAM and a preference for AMD. Considering your input, I’m likely to choose the 5800X3D for optimal performance—balancing high FPS and improved rendering times. My system already has six fans and an excellent assassin 120 SE, so cooling should be manageable.
It would really benefit from direct airflow with an 8-core processor; this board is built for much lower power than expected. Even 50W feels a bit excessive. For more demanding tasks, a dedicated fan aimed toward the VRM area is necessary. If this is the ASUS model, I wouldn't rely on it due to limited temperature monitoring capabilities. It's better to assume their OTP safeguards aren't reliable without verification. For MSI boards, I still wouldn't recommend them, but having VRM sensors would provide extra confidence during long sessions. A 5700X with a used, solid motherboard might offer better value for peace of mind.
Sure, I do have Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3600MHZ RAM. It's indeed quicker than 5900x.
