It seems you're confused about whether you're using a VPN or just connecting to your local network. Make sure you're logged into the correct connection for accessing your files.

It seems you're likely needing to adjust your VPN setup. Make sure the VPN subnet matches the main network so data can move freely between them. You might also consider testing by aligning both subnets.

I attempted to adjust the subnet, but it rejected the change. I'm checking the Unifi network management documentation for guidance.

When you're at home, I'd connect to the VPN using a second machine and see if I can reach your files. If this isn't working as expected, it could indicate a problem with the VPN setup or permission settings.

I can retrieve files over the local network. When connected via VPN at home, I’m able to reach the server and perform all tasks. I can also attempt to access files from a different subnet once I’m back.

I think the test might have issues because it could still access files through a regular connection when linked to the VPN. That’s why I’m sorry I can’t provide further assistance.
