In the initial case the game engine slows everything down, whereas in the second situation the monitor becomes the limiting factor.

Even with a 7900xtx, I keep my GPS at 100 or 120 based on game settings. I don’t require 292 fps for a satisfactory experience on my PC, which is acting like a space heater and rocket launch. My 9900k runs smoothly, and I’m adding the 6900xt. It should handle 1440p nicely for several more years.
