I've always appreciated AMD chips, including my FX8350 and the i7-5820k I swapped in. It was clearly the least impressive option I've used. My i7-5820k gave me a huge performance boost. The trade-off was losing two cores and 0.6GHz of speed, but the results were amazing. Right now, my GTX 1080 struggles to keep up with my 5820k at around 95% usage—especially in 1440p, which forces the GPU to work harder than necessary. If you kept using the FX8350 and upgraded to a 3060 or better, you'd likely lose a lot of efficiency. I'm not talking about small gains; I think your GPU would probably run at 50-65% at 1080p, which isn't very efficient and wastes money.
