I’m likely to boost my RAM to a 3200 model eventually, but right now I’m focusing on getting the new board and processor. Later I’ll probably get a 3200 kit and decide which components to include for a budget PC that my child can use for school and basic games. It won’t be much beyond those needs.

I suggest the Ryzen 5 3600 offering six cores and twelve threads, making it solid for editing tasks. For the motherboard, opt for an MSi B450 Tomahawk or Tomahawk Max. If you prefer, a Hyper 212 Black cooler will help keep things cooler and quieter, though you can go with a model that tolerates more noise if needed.
