Hello! I need to refresh my PC as it’s getting a bit outdated. It’s currently running an i7-10700k and a 3080Ti. Mostly I use it for gaming—primarily playing WoW, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk, etc.—and occasionally doing some photo editing for astrophotography. My main concerns are that WoW is tough in modern raid settings and Cyberpunk feels slow on my system. Elden Ring works fine overall.

I’m not up to building a custom setup anymore (it’s been 25 years since I did one), but I’m open to trying it if it makes sense. I want something reliable for several years without overspending, but I’m aiming for around $3.2k to $4k. Right now I plan to use a 3440x1440p ultrawide monitor, but eventually I’d like two 4K screens—one vertical and one horizontal.

I found the A8200 parts on PCPartPicker, but they cost more than buying a prebuilt unit. The 5090 is also out of my budget right now. I’m really unsure which option to choose or if there’s a better alternative.

Vengeance A8200
- $3,999 US sale price
CPU: 9950x3d / x870 motherboard
RTX 5080
RAM: 64GB DDR5 6400 MT/s Corsair Dominator Titanium
Storage: 4 TB SSD (2x 2TB)
Cooler: Corsair iCUE Link Titan RGB liquid cooler
Power Supply: Corsair 1200W 80+ gold fully modular

Vengeance A7500
- $3,299 US sale price
CPU: 9800x3d / x870 motherboard
RTX 5080
RAM: 32GB DDR5 6400 MT/s Corsair Vengeance
Storage: 2 TB SSD
Cooler: Corsair Nautilus 240mm Liquid CPU Cooler
Power Supply: Corsair 1000W 80+ gold fully modular

Would anyone recommend either of these, or should I consider building my own? If I decide to build, any tips or guidance would be appreciated. I’m also considering a MicroCenter nearby that could assemble a unit if I gather the parts myself. I’m very open to suggestions!

Thank you! Can I ask, why the 9800 over the 9950?

In my view (and honestly), it appears you're planning to invest in items even though there may not be a real necessity for them. Are you considering a 16-core CPU, a 4TB SSD, or 64GB RAM? Given the current high prices of RAM, it might be worth reconsidering your choices.

Your system should handle WoW without issues, and the 3080Ti can perform well in cyberpunk at lower resolutions without RT. You might simply need to upgrade to a new GPU for better performance.

Here is the list of the make/model information you currently possess.
You may already be able to incorporate components from previous builds.
Certain titles depend on graphical capabilities, while others are constrained by processing power.
Multiplayer games usually require numerous threads.
Determine which factors suit your setup.

Haha, you're right. I'm not sure about going that route, but I'm willing to try a different path. My wife thinks I could sell ice to an eskimo and explain it to anyone, which shows how much it's become a habit. I'm wondering what made it stand out in my post?

Hello! Thank you for your message. I was playing CyberPunk at reduced settings earlier, but when I restarted it last night it dropped to under 30 FPS. I plan to check the settings again to understand what’s happening. I also played Arc Raider around 80 FPS consistently.

Hi there! Your feedback is welcome. Here are the details of my system:
MSI Aegis RS
Intel Core™ i7-10700K 8 cores, 3.8-5.1 GHz, 16M cache
NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3080 Ti, 12GB GDDR6X
32GB DDR4 3000Mhz (16GB x 2), 2667 MT/s
2TB M.2 NVMe SSD
2TB 3.5" 7200 RPM HDD
Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2x2, 802.11ax (2.4Gbps)
MSI LED Button – customize your desktop with 60 lighting effects.
This setup uses the latest Wi-Fi 6 for a modern gaming experience and is compatible with standard MSI parts and cases.
The motherboard is Micro-Star International Z490-A PRO MS-7C75, and storage options include ADATA SX8200PNP or ST2000DM008-2FR102.
