Yeah, you asked whether you should buy a 3950X or wait for a 4950X. Both are pointless for gaming, and are in diminshing returns territory because (at least in the case of the 3950X) you'd be looking at lower clock speeds because of the much larger core count. If you want to buy now, then I replied to your question in my previous reply. If you can wait, then wait and get a Zen 3 6 or 8-core part.

You don't require a 3959x for gaming. A 3600xt offers superior silicon. It will overclock more effectively and deliver identical performance in games.

The subject has concluded. I'll proceed with the 4950x 18 core processor.

With a limitless budget, I’d aim for 3600MHz CL14.

You know the 4950x will come out in a while, not soon after. It won't be available next month. The 3950x came out in November 2019, so I'm confident the 4950x will be around 2021.

Some YouTube videos aren't considered valid evidence. AMD mentioned those points about the 4950x and 18-core requirements.

During my investigation, numerous sites indicated that the 4900x model would feature 14 cores with 28 threads, while the 4950x would offer 18 cores and 36 threads.

You haven't provided a clear question yet. Could you clarify what you're asking about the AMD 4950X?
