As I begin downloading bigger files, my connection drops to around 1 mb/s. When I disconnect and reconnect the router, speeds briefly rise to 25 mb/s before returning to normal. This pattern appears only during larger downloads or when the TV is active. Could this be due to network congestion or hardware limitations? Would upgrading to a newer router improve performance? I think my current Telus setup might be outdated.

They mentioned issues with files and slow YT streaming. Wi-Fi works better than cable.

It might happen consistently, but it usually only shows up as spikes during downloads of bigger files. The most frequent problems are router issues, connection problems, adapter issues, or poor ISP performance.

I've experienced overheating issues with my Wi-Fi dongles, causing them to disconnect prematurely even when maintaining a stable 20 Mbps connection for extended periods.

Power-line communication is decent compared to Wi-Fi, offers better performance, and is affordable.

They seem to have seen some updates, but they still feel quite outdated.

They might be used in certain residences, but performance has consistently been poor, even when conditions were optimal. The most recent time I tried them was limited to about 5 Mb/s.
