This reminds me of thinking about whether the issue lies with the vehicle, the driver, or the road when dealing with a car problem. Thanks for clarifying that thought. It seems like upgrading to WiFi 6 might be worth considering, especially for streaming. I’d prefer a better internal card rather than the USB one I currently use, though that option isn’t near the top of my purchase list. It would mean giving up the wall outlet I need for the computer, which usually takes up the whole socket.

Yea, so, sustained load Mine gives me back the outlet so... Albeit power line is not a cure-all medicine, I've had issues with mine too

Videos consist of rapid data bursts, right? I only faced problems once. First, I transferred big files in and out, then played Minecraft which supports up to 20mbps uploads—quickly causes overheating. It’s simple: unplug it, reconnect after cooling, wait longer before trying again; it should slow down faster. Not overly pessimistic, but three Wi-Fi dongles all failed under similar stress on different PCs, with one even shutting down completely.

Yes, even I faced problems with them many years ago. A few years back, I set them up at my friend's house since his layout wasn't ideal. I must admit, I was really impressed by how well they worked. Of course, you'll need a solid pair, and the top brand makes a big difference here.

Are you able to check performance on Ethernet? This would clarify if the issue lies with WiFi or the router. Could you share the router model and Wi-Fi card details? How close is your computer to the wireless router? Are there any walls or floors separating them? Conduct a wireless scan, download, install, run, and examine the results in the ‘Analyze’ section. Switch between 2.4GHz and 5GHz channels to compare findings. Capture a screenshot and send it here.

They keep playing constantly, which might explain why it's not more common. I considered this for a bit and believe it could be Steam updating behind the scenes. The router is whatever Telus supplied, and the WiFi uses a Netgear A6210. It's within about 25 feet, though a few walls are involved. The adapter worked well with a Shaw modem across similar distances and twice the wall count. I ended up getting an Asus AC68 router and a WiFi card, so we'll see how it affects things.
