Hello, I recently increased my 9700K to 4.7GHz and it performed very well. Today I tried pushing it further to 4.9GHz using auto voltage on the same setting, and it worked smoothly. When I attempted it at 4.9GHz after a reboot, I noticed an internet connection issue. I reset the CMOS as a usual step after overclocking, but the problem persisted. Could you offer any advice or solutions? My system specs include an Intel i7 9700K, 16GB Corsair LPX DDR4 RAM, MSI GTX 980Ti, and ASRock Z390 Steel Legend. Thanks in advance!
Overclocking doesn’t usually cause internet issues. I’ve noticed browser problems before with RAM overclocking, but I’m unsure how these situations connect. Removing the overclock didn’t resolve the problem either. Does your system recognize the network cable as active? When you open Command Prompt and type ipconfig, does it list your NIC or indicate an IP address and default gateway?
Is there an IP or default gateway listed, or is your NIC not visible?

Typical issues when boosting your CPU involve freezes, crashes, and restarts. For GPUs, you might see black screens, game failures, visual artifacts, or screen tearing. RAM overclocking often leads to system instability, app errors, and BSODs. The closest scenario to losing internet during OC is a crash in Chrome caused by RAM overclocking, resulting in instability.
