Those issues mostly fit under general instability. Resetting the CMOS usually fixes any overclocking problems. I probably shouldn’t have said that I’ve never heard of “no internet” as a sign of instability, but I haven’t overclocked a system recently.
It won’t fix long-term issues, though short-lived damage usually vanishes once the CMOS is cleared. The root cause remains unclear since voltage often leads to failure, and the OP doesn’t seem confident about managing it.
Sure thing. The system didn’t have much power. I’m comfortable with older gear, but I’m a bit behind in BIOS updates and Windows features. I understand how it used to function, though. The settings part is a bit confusing for me.
I work most with the oldest hardware I know, specifically Socket AM3. While I've experimented with AM2 and AM2+ boards, they haven't been used regularly in everyday tasks. Back then, motherboards automatically set Core/VCore voltage to AUTO by default. Maybe even earlier models had fixed settings, but I've always considered AUTO the standard choice. Even now, when trying to overclock, letting the system handle voltage selection isn't ideal—it either provides too little or too much for the required clock speed. Manual tweaking remains the best approach.
