The DSL connection has been unreliable for a while now. Right now, there are no other alternatives available, so we’re dealing with what we have. I checked the "network interface device" outside our home and saw that some of the phone line cables aren’t properly connected. Can I just plug in the missing wires, or would that make no difference?
Usually DSL connects via a phone line or two wires. Many cables such as cat5/5e/6 contain four pairs, meaning three pairs aren’t being used right now. That’s the normal setup, and these wires can’t be connected to anything if you tried.
Thanks for the feedback. It seems like the main concern is that they’re the only option locally, so people might assume it’s fine regardless of quality. There’s also a suspicion they could have intentionally done poorly just for the sake of it.
We intend to secure fiber in the future, but I’m certain I’m still taking full advantage of what DSL offers now.
