You have a Dell XPS 15 9550 from eBay, but the battery connector isn’t working and appears damaged. The plastic casing seems faulty too. You’re looking for advice on testing the connector or finding a replacement with pinout details. If it’s defective, you might want to look for a compatible surface mount version.

I considered covering the component with electrical tape to check for recognition. It could be a short circuit, requiring a non-conductive layer between the pins and nearby parts.

After connecting the connector via battery power, no exposed pins remain, preventing any short circuits

As long as the pins remain straight, it seems the device should function. It appears to be a simple plastic component. Is the battery still in good condition?

Check the battery closely. Observe the plus and minus signs on it. It seems to have four black wires on the right and four red wires on the left. Someone can help you test it.

New AC adapter and fresh battery installed. Nothing seems to work. At the damaged plug, I’m measuring 14.11V between the + and - terminals. The adapter claims 19.5V, while the battery reads 11V.

You're dealing with a tricky situation. The issue seems to be with the connector pins on your motherboard, not the plastic part. The pins are broken and missing, which is why you're having trouble. The search terms you used didn't yield results, but the description matches a common component. It looks like it might be a Dell XPS 15 battery connector, though it's not necessarily specific to Dell. If you can find a photo showing the exact pin layout, that would help a lot. You're not alone—many people face this problem, and there are solutions if you locate the right pin.
