Comparing Windows versions: 10, 8.1, and 7.
Comparing Windows versions: 10, 8.1, and 7.
I'm leaning towards 7. I haven't tested 10 enough to form a solid opinion, and most folks here haven't either. A few weeks post-release would have been ideal for this poll. It functions well, remains reliable, and has strong backing. Win 8.1 is technically better, but upgrading isn't worth the effort—especially with a boot SSD, since 7 performs comparably to 8.1 on slower drives. I run Windows 8 on my laptop, which definitely shines on slower storage, but for my main rig, 8 doesn’t bring much extra gain over 8.1. Plus, it wasn't free, so upgrading isn't a good deal.
Preferred the Win 8 search feature over Win 8.1, especially with the Tab option.
I strongly dislike Windows 8.1 in several aspects. It works well on my SP3 but lacks the refinement. They made mistakes. I’m eager for Windows 10, which still seems flawed, though it addresses some problems. Windows 7 from the new version feels dated and sluggish whenever I use it on my old PC or my family members’ machines.
