Comparing Windows versions: 10, 8.1, and 7.
Comparing Windows versions: 10, 8.1, and 7.
Windows 8.1 is really good, easy on the system, and runs smoothly. If you claim you dislike it 9 times out of 10, it’s probably because you’re using someone else’s outdated view. Now I’m using Windows 10 as my main OS (Pro Build 1062) and I’m thrilled about the new release!
I chose Windows 10 this time (though I’m still on 8.1). The preview worked smoothly across all my devices—keyboard, mouse, gamepad, USB sound card, external HDDs, etc.—except for Corsair Link which didn’t quite fit. DX12 stood out as a highlight. Unfortunately, we lack a solid game to evaluate it properly. On the flip side, I still don’t grasp why 8.1 was so disliked mainly due to its interface (which is better than 7’s). Instead of placing icons on the desktop, they’re now in a separate window, organized by category like games, productivity, tools, etc., freeing up space. Plus, Windows 8.1 launched ready-to-use with all drivers, codecs, and runtimes included—just install and start using it right away.
I haven't used 8.1 or 10 much yet, so I can only say 7. I'll check later to see if I might favor the others. From a visual standpoint, I lean toward Windows 10, though it's not a strong choice for me at the moment.
I'm switching all non legacy setups to 10. So I am going 10 unless good reason otherwise
Having been with Windows 10 from the start of the insider program, I’ve grown quite comfortable with it. I really love it and have never wanted to go back.
I plan to switch to W10 when it comes out. I’ve secured my copy and am excited to see how it performs. Regarding Windows 7 – why do you like it? Maybe because the internet promotes Windows 8.1, or perhaps you’re one of those who can’t live without the start button? Well, I believe Windows 8.1 is superior to Windows 7 and that Windows 10 will surpass all previous versions.
I need Windows 8.1 since it runs significantly quicker than Windows 7. I’d prefer Windows 10 though, but I haven’t used it much.
