I'm just starting out building a PC and have been looking for the right components. Recently, I learned about AMD releasing two new chips that offer a big performance increase over the 3200G I was planning to use. Since those new cores won't come with built-in graphics, I was thinking about getting a dedicated graphics card anyway. This machine will probably handle light gaming, 3D modeling in Fusion 360, and everyday tasks. Either processor will be a major upgrade from my old Acer laptop—a 7-year-old that barely runs Minecraft at over 30 FPS. Upgrading has been on my mind for a while now. Any advice from the community would be really helpful.

Maximize what your budget can achieve, and if you have 3600 it will make a significant difference—though not for gaming.

The 3300x offers solid performance for just a bit more than the current price. For an additional $20, you'd get specs matching the i7 700k. If it were noticeably pricier, I'd think it's not a good value, but the extra cost is only $20.

Anyway, 3300x and 3100 are available on zen2, while 3200g works on zen+. That explains the differences in CPU performance—3300x is clearly the top choice, but going up to 3600 would be even better.

Thank you for your feedback. I’ve chosen the 3300x as it should handle my Ryzen 5 3600 better, avoiding the graphics card limits that could cause performance issues.
