As a 5600x owner I do have to say she is an absolute ripper. I don't need 8 cores but I could always use them.. but for what I do the 5600x is perfect. And its relatively easy to cool sorta
It was about the 5600 model. It’s fairly manageable to keep cool, but it gets quite hot near its limits. I tend to step back around the mid-80s even though they claim it lasts until 95. In reality, it holds up until about 103 at least. There’s always a bit of regret involved.
The temperatures from my initial benchmark appear in my signature. Since then, the 5800x has maintained performance below 80°C during games using a quiet cooler.
On paper, 5600x and 5900x seem preferable. However, AUD to USD indicates that 5800x is closest to our MSRP. I believe none of those options will disappoint you. The 5800x performs well in games and can be used for video editing more effectively depending on your tools. Still, considering the situation in Australia, I’d recommend PBO with the 5800x if you choose it. With some adjustments, it looks quite impressive. It’s mainly binned to run very hot out of the box. I chose the 5800x based on speculation. Both the Series X and PS5 are 8c16t. The 5800x matches that specification. Once game developers shift away from making titles for PS4 and Xbox One, they’re likely to favor 8/16 formats. I’m not sure they’ll abandon 4/8 or 6/12, but given how consoles function now, 8/16 will probably be the top choice. I’ve written about this in another thread explaining why the 5800x stands out.
