I don’t want Battlefield 1 anymore because of the new WW1 theme and the price tag. I’m probably not buying it for a while—maybe in three years if I’m still around and into PC gaming. I’ve been playing BF4 for a year now. I logged 1000 hours, but it started to feel boring and repetitive. The Second Assault maps, especially the Gulf of Oman, really bothered me. They look completely different from the original BF2 version I played back in 2005. It’s frustrating. I’ve never played Battlefield 3 before; I probably missed it for a long time. Recently, I’ve been watching gameplay videos and reviews, and I think it could be a decent game. The premium edition is only around $20. I also noticed the Gulf of Oman map reminds me of my BF2 days. BF3’s version looks similar, and Strike of Karkand has returned with improved graphics. If you’re a Battlefield fan who’s played BF2, BF3, and BF4 so far, would you consider buying it now? Since I won’t be getting the new BF1, that’s out of the question. What are the advantages and disadvantages of BF3 compared to BF4? Also, my take on BF1 was that the trailers were cool, but it might just be another BF4 or Hardline with new maps, weapons, and spawns—though I’m not sure yet since we only saw the pre-alpha. Thanks!

Bf3 was available for a while too. Regarding the game, no, don't go buying it. It's a clumsy browser game launcher. Plus, it's a lot more messy than BFBC2.

I assumed you were talking about BF3 first. I’ve played it a lot and really enjoy it. When compared to BF4, it has fewer particles, glitchy plains—especially with trees—as mentioned by @Guuhan. The browser interface can be a bit frustrating, but overall, if you like the battlefield mode, you’ll definitely like this one. If not, you probably didn’t spend too much money on it.

Sure thing, I fixed it. Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, $20 isn't that much, right? Doe. I remember it was free a couple of years ago. My friend mentioned something about it. Well, uh... "stupid browser game sever launcher"? BF4 can also launch from the browser, and I used to enjoy it before it got dull. Also, my first BF game was BF2, and I never played BFBC's.

BF3 feels like a toddler to me, probably not even updated anymore. BF4 is only slightly functional and came out about three years back. BF1 was the first major battle royale game in two years. I’d suggest waiting until it launches and saving up to buy it then.

Supported refers to the ongoing availability and engagement of the game. EA hasn’t taken it offline, though finding servers for niche modes or maps can be challenging. It seems BF3 might still have a decent player base compared to Hardline. BF4 remains EA’s most popular Battlefield title on PC, and it’s far from just barely supported.

I'm mainly worried about missing detailed maps for popular gameplay types like Conquest or TDM...I'm looking for complete Back To Karkand maps plus Metro and similar content, especially with large player counts (32/32, 48/48, 64/64).

You can explore the BF3 server browser without purchasing the game. This might be the main benefit of using a browser version. http://battlelog.battlefield.com/bf3/servers/ To get started, apply some reasonable filters to conceal inactive servers and refresh the page.

BF3 offered a much improved map layout. The weapon attachment system was simpler compared to BF4, featuring basic elements like laser sights and reinforced barrels, without overcrowding with multiple suppressors or extra sights.
