According to current patterns, the main issue isn't low core count—it's the lack of single-threaded speed. If funds are manageable and 5950x remains your best option, go ahead and purchase it and take advantage of it.

The video I just watched brought back memories of the eight-core consoles we had before. It made me wonder how long the next generation would last, assuming we’re still using seven cores now. I’m leaning toward sticking with the 5900x for now.

Great decision! Having too many cores won’t help much in the long term. Even before 16 cores are common for gaming, these two processors will underperform compared to single-core speed.

Recent gaming systems featured eight processing cores. My view is that core numbers won’t be the main barrier for upgrades, but more so the type of instructions and how efficiently they’re processed.
