It varies based on your GPU model and future purchases. If your i7 8700k reaches 5GHz, it behaves similarly to the i5 10600K. For most current titles, it works well with a GTX 1080 Ti or RTX 2080. It doesn’t offer significant gains if you aim for more GPUs later. The i7 10700K is a 5GHz processor that can reach up to 5.1GHz under certain settings. If you already have or intend to acquire a RTX 2080 Ti or higher, it’s a solid upgrade. With a second core, it will outlast a six-core model in demanding scenarios. The i9 10850K is also a 5GHz CPU but includes Thermal Velocity boost (TVB). TVB is advantageous for running games stock since it provides a single 5.2GHz boost. If the i9 stays under 70°C during gaming, it matches other CPUs in speed. The i9 10900K performs even better with TVB, reaching 5.3GHz. For TVB to be effective, a 360mm AIO is recommended. If I had to choose, I’d go with the i9. It supports TVB and can easily hit 5.2GHz overclock. It’s also ideal for pairing with a GTX 3060 or 3090.
