A few days back the price range was between 8700k and 9700k, but now it sits around those numbers thanks to the i5 being £100 cheaper. I’m inclined to choose the i5 for clear reasons, but I’d appreciate a second view on this.

I have excluded it from earlier discussions due to several factors, yet this was my initial intention.

8600k or an i5 8400 would work, as the difference won't be noticeable so you can save money.

It doesn’t quite add up getting a 8600 over 3600, but that’s okay. If it fits the I5 JF, it’s meant for 1080p60.

It seems you're questioning why someone would opt for the 8600k instead of the 8700k at this moment.

The main reason is I no longer have the bracket, so I’d need a new cooler this year. Another point is I’m familiar with Intel and prefer staying with them at the moment, even though there are many others I don’t recall.
