I'm curious about whether it's worth upgrading the CPU when the graphics card has twice as many transistors. Would using an RX 9070 XT or just sticking with the XT for half the cost and a 5GHz THX could give you around 10 more FPS in games, as some people tested?

Do you think it's beneficial to upgrade? If budget matters, you might skip it and wait for a significant improvement. Are you using 1440p or higher resolution?

The 5800X3D tends to be very costly since it's no longer in production. The 5700X3D offers a lower price but isn't being manufactured anymore either. A 13-game average at 1080p shows the 5800X3D performs better, especially with an RTX 4090. If you intend to play at 1440p using a 9070 XT, a Ryzen 5800XT should suffice. Avoid paying double the price for the 5800X3D.

Certain games such as Indiana Jones are available in 1440p and others in 4K ultra resolution.

Check out the video at 1440p and 4K resolution—your current Ryzen 5600 performs quite well.

The X3D chips excel at 1080p and beyond, but gains slow down past 1440/4K. For this scenario, I’d pick the 5800XT instead of the 5800X3D.

It was surprising to see how many transistors x3d contains—over eight billion on a chip the size of an XT-4B.

I no longer own a Ryzen 5 5600 but swapped it in for a Ryzen 7 5800XT.
