My 3600 CPU appears to be significantly slower than my friends' i7 7700K during cold war. Our system lacks a DDR4 16GB 3200MHz RAM, and most components inside the PC are similar except for the CPU and motherboard. The GPU is GTX 1660. My 3600 runs at about 50% usage, while the GPU is at 30%. At maximum settings, it achieves around 60 FPS, whereas the i7 7700K delivers 90 FPS (unconfirmed).

Other titles perform better on Intel, particularly those accustomed to handling numerous cores or threads. The memory layout also seems to suit many games more. Consider these adjustments: 1) Verify you're not using VSync or similar features. 2) Disable SMT, which may boost performance for games that don't rely heavily on threads but benefit from faster cores. 3) Raise the clock frequency to 1800 MHz while keeping RAM speed constant. This speeds up Infinity Fabric and related components, though it introduces an async penalty for RAM, resulting in a trade-off.

Not necessarily... I didn't ask what monitor you're using. Once scenario is if you are running a 60 Hz display with V-sync on, that will limit you to 60fps. turning off V-sync would allow fps to go over that, at the cost of possible visual tearing. SMT, it allows each real core to process two threads at the same time. You get more work done in total, but it can sometimes slow things down because each part completes slower. Leave your ram settings as they are, assuming they're set to 3200 already. I'm a bit rusty on changing settings like those on AMD systems but make sure when you change FCLK it doesn't affect the ram. There is a small chance some CPUs might not like that FCLK, but it is quite popular as the sweet spot for Zen 2 CPUs. I'd suggest you try each thing separately by itself, don't do all three at once.

In that scenario it isn't V-sync; verify your game settings to ensure no 60fps restriction exists. SMT and FCLK details are available in the BIOS. I mentioned considering disabling SMT since it's enabled by default, but be aware it might impact other applications.

You won't reach a 3600 speed with a 7700K, unfortunately. It's essentially side-graded. You've increased thread count but lost IPC. The 7700K would hit 3600 especially when pushed overclocked. Sorry for the rough news. That's just how it goes.

It doesn't really make sense that using an i7-7700K would boost frame rates by 30. That's a significant jump, almost doubling performance. It seems unrealistic.

PBO and GO are the way to go! XMP handles it automatically. It seems the design intentionally keeps things simple. User OC has no relevance here. Thanks AMD!
