Hey everyone, it's tough to tell the distinction between PC ultra and PS4 games at 1080p resolution. But I'm curious—would spending about $1,000 on a 1440p ultra rig make a noticeable difference compared to a £250 PS4? Let me know!

It will be sharper, and you can adjust other options for better visuals. You don’t need a subscription since online and game prices are usually lower. Also, since it’s a PC, you can handle additional tasks like video editing.

1440p setups aren't cheap at 1k. If the gap between 1080p PC and 900P PS4 isn't noticeable, maybe it's not worth the price?

Struggling to distinguish between PC ultra and PS4 titles at 1080p is tough—it's more about the frame rate. At 30 FPS it feels like a slow slideshow, whereas 60 FPS looks smooth. The videos on YouTube are also compressed, so the visual differences aren't huge. But in real life, it matters.

Only a handful of titles play at full resolution on the PS4, while most are scaled up to 900p for 1080p display.

I don't see why you just don't go with 1080p 60FPS, but oh well. Here's a 1440p build with a 1440p monitor: PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant CPU: Intel Core i5-4460 3.2GHz Quad-Core Processor (£141.26 @ CCL Computers) Motherboard: MSI H97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (£61.16 @ Scan.co.uk) Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport XT 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£35.00 @ Amazon UK) Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£39.60 @ CCL Computers) Video Card: PowerColor Radeon R9 290X 4GB PCS+ Video Card (£275.42 @ More Computers) Case: Corsair SPEC-03 Red ATX Mid Tower Case (£49.99 @ Amazon UK) Power Supply: SeaSonic S12G 650W 80+ Gold Certified ATX Power Supply (£88.44 @ Amazon UK) Operating System: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 OEM (64-bit) (£67.95 @ Ebuyer) Monitor: Dell U2515H 60Hz 25.0" Monitor (£245.99 @ Aria PC) Total: £1004.81 Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available Generated by PCPartPicker 2015-06-21 14:14 BST+0100

I’m not too concerned about Fps 30 being acceptable, but switching to PC over my PS4 would offer better graphics. Most new games are already optimized for consoles, so even Witcher might not show a big difference on PC. I’m starting to question whether it’s worth the change.
